David Žbirka is coming to Bratislava with his solo project Sunnbrella with the support of local bands 52 Herz Whale and Shallov.
SUNNBRELLA
Sunnbrella is the solo project of Prague-born, London-based musician and producer David Žbirka. With a musical sensibility akin to bringing daydreams into focus, Sunnbrella creates sun-bleached, shoegazing, beat-driven melancholy, as diverse in its sonic palette as it is rich in emotive sentiment.
The project began life as little more than a lo-fi bedroom pop affair, initially garnering attention after releasing the single ‘Feelin’ Invisible’ – produced together with Eyedress.
Having spent much of 2019 in Australia and New Zealand drumming for new Gabriel Winterfield project Golf Alpha Bravo, supporting Dope Lemon on their sold-out tour, songwriter David Zbirka returned home to work on new Sunnbrella music with an ambition of taking the project out of the bedroom-pop realm into a punchier, more refined sound. That year also saw the band’s debut festival appearance at Standon Calling Festival, as well as support slots with Permanent Creeps Records alumni Bdrmm, not to mention GHUM, Vacations and Baywaves.
Sunbrella´s singles ‘It’s Cool’ in 2020 and ‘Lost & Found’ in 2021 received radio play from BBC 6 Music or Amazing Radio. Sunnbrella’s debut album ‘Heartworn’ was released this year on the 24th of February.

SHALLOV
Shallov is a three-piece band from Bratislava that blends raw, unbound post-hardcore and screamo with atmospheric, progressive post-rock/post-metal elements, often showcased in compositions lasting over 10 minutes. Their performances take the audience on an emotional rollercoaster, immersing them in an atmosphere that is simultaneously aggressive, hypnotic, dark, and at times euphoric and hopeful. The upcoming summer of 2023 presents a final chance to experience their performance featuring their latest release, ‘Coexist, Refrain’.
52 HERZ WHALE
52 Hertz Whale is a Bratislava-based band whose music is ferocious and melancholic, cracked with vigour and impatience. Within their sound, they have been interpreting British guitar trends in their own way for a long time, but in particular they are among the few bands that understand the essential importance of a energetic live performance. Their concerts have a ritual character, thanks to which you will not get tired of seeing them again and again.
